The real thing isn't a game: where Amarillo's water comes from · what the City owes
Your city saves in this browser every in-game year and when you leave the page. Nothing is sent anywhere.
How it works
- Homes fill with residents when they have a road to I-40, a water tower within 3 tiles, enough power, jobs and a happy town. Residents pay the taxes.
- Wells pump the aquifer. It barely refills, and each well yields less as the water table drops. Start saving water early.
- Pipelines bring in water from elsewhere: $2,500 for the first, more for each one after, plus $50 a month to run. Water rules cut demand by a quarter but annoy residents.
- Borrowing builds faster, but interest comes out of every month. Debt is capped at $8,000.
- The game ends after 30 years, or sooner if the taps run dry for a year, everyone moves away, or the city goes broke. Score: residents, plus how much aquifer you saved, minus debt.
A game, not a record: every number in it is made up. For the sourced figures, see Water and Debt.
