Canadian River Municipal Water Authority (CRMWA)
The Canadian River Municipal Water Authority (CRMWA) is a conservation and reclamation district the Texas Legislature created on May 27, 1953 to supply water to 11 member cities in the Panhandle and South Plains, including Amarillo. It operates Lake Meredith, the original aqueduct system that began deliveries in 1968, and the John C. Williams well field and aqueduct in Roberts County, which began delivering groundwater in 2001. A 17-member board appointed by the member cities governs it, and it bills the cities for its costs; its FY2024/25 budget was $36,996,301, of which $14,090,126 was allocated to Amarillo. In FY2024-25 it delivered 65,572 acre-feet, 51,863 of it groundwater.
Dell Technologies
Dell Technologies is the City of Amarillo's contractor for Emma, the website's AI digital human, and, through Dell Marketing and Dell Financial Services, a supplier and lessor of much of the City's information technology: network hardware and firewalls, VMware licenses, desktop computers, police tablets, cybersecurity tools and the cloud services that built the City's new website infrastructure. The City Council approves these purchases and leases, most of them under the Texas Department of Information Resources cooperative contract DIR-TSO-3763. The table below lists every Dell award found in the council minutes since April 2022 and the check-register payments whose amounts match.
Fermi America (Fermi, Inc.)
Fermi Inc., which operates as Fermi America, is a Texas corporation formed in January 2025 to develop Project Matador, a private-grid power and data-center campus on land leased from the Texas Tech University System in Carson County, northeast of Amarillo. It was co-founded by former Gov. Rick Perry, Toby Neugebauer and Griffin Perry, and its stock has traded on Nasdaq (FRMI) since October 1, 2025, with a secondary listing in London. Its co-founder and first CEO was removed in April 2026 and Lee McIntire became CEO on August 11, 2026. As of June 30, 2026 the company had no revenue, and its filings describe substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern, which management says its plans alleviate. Its first data-center lease, with TensorWave, had a closing deadline of October 31, 2026.
