Four-Year Term
Run the budget. Survive the surprises. Get re-elected.
How it works
- Every year starts with a surprise. Pick one of two answers; each one costs something.
- Then pass a budget. Water, roads, police and fire, and parks all wear down every year, a little faster as the city ages, unless you fund them. Spending has diminishing returns, so spreading money around goes further.
- Debt payments come off the top every year. A bond election raises cash if voters like you enough. Overspend and the difference goes on the debt.
- Every 4 years you need 50% approval to win re-election. You lose early if the water runs out or debt passes $250M.
A game, not a record: every card and number is invented. For the City's actual budget, see Spending, Debt and Votes.
