All five seats are on the ballot for two-year terms, as in every City general election since voters rejected four-year staggered terms in November 2024. There are no term limits. Candidates file from January 13 to February 12, 2027; no one has filed yet.

How to vote
Register by April 1, 2027. You must be registered 30 days before election day. Potter and Randall county residents register with their county's elections office, which also has the state's registration lookup.5,13,14
Vote early or on election day. The counties run the City's election under contract and post early-voting and election-day locations and sample ballots before each election.9,13,14
Every seat is at large. Every Amarillo voter can vote in all five races, the mayor and Places 1 through 4.2
A majority wins. A candidate needs more than half the votes. If no one gets a majority, the top two meet in a runoff on a Saturday the Secretary of State sets, 30 to 45 days later.3,15
