The Amarillo Tribune reported that the auditor said a draft was filed on the deadline; that Councilmember Les Simpson expressed concern the delay in finalizing the audit could cause issues with the Texas Attorney General's office, which had been reviewing cities' compliance with SB 1851; and that under that law a city found to have failed to have or timely file an audit may be prohibited from adopting a tax rate above the no-new-revenue rate. The Tribune reported that the council tabled acceptance because not every member had reviewed the report. [2]
