Fermi responds to opposition comments on the City's foreign-trade subzone application
Fermi submitted a response to three opposition comments filed in April 2026 on the City of Amarillo's subzone application (docket S-133-2026), which raised water use, employment and tax concerns and asked for a local public hearing. Fermi argued the comments were substantively identical and outside the Board's criteria. The City posted the response on its Fermi page.[1]

Fermi America (response filed with the FTZ Board): Fermi's May 11, 2026 response says three opposition comments were filed on April 8, 9 and 17, 2026, by two organizations and an individual, raising water use, employment projections and tax policy, and asking the Board to hold a public hearing in the Amarillo area, require binding employment commitments and coordinate with TCEQ. Fermi argued none of these was required under the Board's regulations.[1]
