Playa lake flooding; council continues disaster declaration and rents a Greenways pump
During early-June 2023 flooding, Lawrence Lake overflowed around Paramount Boulevard, Olsen and 45th Avenue, and homes near the Greenways playa (Playa 7) could not be reoccupied. At a June 8 special meeting the council continued the mayor's disaster declaration and voted 4-0 to rent a temporary pump for Playa 7 from United Rentals. By June 14 the City and TxDOT pumps had removed about 275 million gallons from the lakes, the City said.[1][2][3][4]
