Council passes a Town Square alcohol-use change (Ordinance No. 8273), 3-2, on first reading
Ordinance No. 8273 rezones part of the Town Square mixed-use area from Planned Development 373A to 373E. It keeps the limit of four bars (on-premise primary use alcohol sales) in the area but drops the one-per-building rule set in 2015, and adds on-premise incidental alcohol sales by non-restaurants such as golf simulators. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended it 7-0 on September 21, 2026. No one spoke at the public hearing. It passed 3-2 by voice vote; the mayor identified the no votes as Places 3 and 4.[1][2][3]

The staff report for Ordinance No. 8273 (requested by the developer, Texas Residences at Town Square LLC) said the 2015 Planned Development allowed one on-premise primary use (bar) per building in Town Square's four mixed-use buildings, for a total of four, plus restaurant, off-premise and temporary alcohol sales. The change keeps the total of four but lets them be placed anywhere in the area and adds on-premise incidental sales and service by non-restaurants, which it said could include indoor golf simulators, pool halls and arcades. The developer had said such businesses had asked about leasing space. [1]
