NewsChannel10 reports that the Amarillo Regional Crime Center plans to install 37 license plate readers throughout the city by the end of October 2023, funded through Project Safe Neighborhood by a Smart Policing Initiative grant, and that collected data is kept for 30 days and then deleted.[1]
License plate reader data was kept for 30 days and then deleted, according to NewsChannel10 in October 2023; in April 2026 Police Chief Thomas Hover said Flock data was not kept longer than 30 days.
