Ordinance No. 8016 repeals Sec. 8-2-12, leaving the section number reserved
Ordinance No. 8016, adopted September 27, 2022, repealed Municipal Code Sec. 8-2-12, which had provided for a humane society to operate at the animal shelter, and also amended the animal fee schedule (Sec. 8-2-4). Sec. 8-2-12 remained "Reserved" in the code as codified through December 2025. The code already barred an impounded animal over three months old without an implanted microchip from being redeemed, transferred or adopted until a microchip was implanted, with a $15 labor fee plus the market cost of the chip.[1][2][3]

Before the proposal, Sec. 8-2-54(b) already provided that a domestic animal over three months old without an implanted microchip "may not be redeemed, transferred or adopted" until a microchip is implanted, and Sec. 8-2-4 set the charge at $15 labor plus the market cost of the chip. The code's history notes do not say which ordinance added the microchip language.
